Farewell Spit

The Farewell Spit is the northern most tip of the South Island of New Zealand. It is a sand spit of epic proportions, the largest sand dunes in the world.

To visit the protected wildlife sanctuary you must join a guided tour. There are more than 90 species of birds, with an amazing amount of bird life. Whale beachings over the years have created a giant collection of Sperm Whale bones
